Our Story

After selling MSM Transportation in 2012, trucking and freight brokering industry veteran Mike McCarron looked forward to retirement. He had spent the previous 24 years building MSM into an award-winning hybrid transportation company before selling to The Wheels Group after receiving an unsolicited offer.

Six months later, at 52, Mike decided he wasn’t ready to golf every day and started looking for his next opportunity.

Mike knew the supply chain industry was fragmented, businesses struggled to keep up with technology, and owners needed help finding opportunities to drive their growth and exit plans.

He also knew there were no firms in Canada that specialized in mergers and acquisitions for businesses in the supply chain.

It was then that Mike met Peter Stefanovich.

Peter was working at The Wheels Group and early in their friendship it was apparent that Mike and Peter had similar values, complementary skills, and deep supply chain expertise.

On January 1, 2016, they founded Left Lane Associates with a sole purpose to create total enterprise value for supply chain companies and their shareholders.

Today, Left Lane is Canada’s leading M&A advisory firm for the supply chain industry in North America. Based in Toronto, our team of advisors has built sustainable personal relationships through more than 90 years of industry experience while delivering unsurpassed deal expertise and value for our clients.

We help companies of all sizes meet their objectives to grow, sell, and/or buy new businesses in trucking, logistics, warehousing, and other areas of the supply chain.

In October of 2021, Mike decided to leave the growth of Left Lane Associates in the capable hands of his younger partner, Peter Stefanovich, in order to take the business to the next level. Mike remains as a non-operating partner and sits on the Board of Directors.
